Banijay Entertainment Reports Fiscal Gain Driven by Gaming Division
Banijay Entertainment has announced its financial performance for the fiscal year 2025, revealing a significant boost in its gaming sector. The French company disclosed that gaming revenue surged by approximately 10.2% to reach €1.6 billion. Notably, sports betting accounted for a substantial 76% of this total, marking a 6.8% increase despite a year with fewer major sports events compared to 2024.
CEO François Riahi emphasized that the gaming division’s immediate priority is gearing up for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in June. Consequently, the integration of Tipico, in which Banijay acquired a 65% stake last October, will be temporarily deferred until after the World Cup. The strategic plan involves merging Tipico with Betclic, positioning the combined entity as Europe’s fourth-largest sports betting and gaming operator and the most prominent sportsbook across continental Europe. Riahi highlighted that Tipico is focused on enhancing its app features to leverage the World Cup’s engagement opportunities.
In 2025, gaming contributed to 33% of Banijay’s overall revenue, while streaming remained the primary revenue generator. The gaming sector experienced a 23% rise in unique active players and improved cross-selling between betting and igaming activities. Igaming generated €249 million, bolstered by a new launch in Ivory Coast. Furthermore, Banijay introduced its proprietary online poker platform in France, making poker responsible for 7% of total gaming revenue.
Looking forward, Riahi stated that the strategic blueprint for the Tipico-Betclic consolidation will be unveiled on March 26. Acknowledging the challenges posed by increased gambling taxes in France, which rose by 29% year-on-year to €142.5 million in 2025, he noted that effective cost management has enhanced the gaming division’s adjusted EBITDA margin by 0.6 percentage points, reaching 26.7%. Marketing expenses were maintained between 6% and 8% of gaming revenue, though the impact of higher advertising taxes in France offset some cost reductions.
Beyond the gaming sector, Banijay is advancing its streaming segment through strategic acquisitions. The company recently acquired All3Media, a move designed to deepen alliances with global streaming platforms and accelerate the monetization of its intellectual properties via digital and live adaptations.
Banijay’s ongoing efforts to expand its market presence and adapt to regulatory challenges reflect a strategic approach to sustaining growth in a competitive landscape. As the company navigates the complexities of higher taxation and evolving market dynamics, the outcomes of its integration strategies and acquisition efforts will be closely observed by industry stakeholders.
