Bet365 is poised to join Alberta’s online casino market as the province gears up for its July 13 launch. The global gambling giant was recently added to the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) Gaming Registrations list. This move sets Bet365 up to offer both its casino and sports betting platforms, making it one of six companies planning multiple platform launches in this nascent market. Still, alberta will thus be the second province in Canada, following Ontario, to open its doors to a privatized iGaming ecosystem.

Expanding Alberta’s iGaming Market

With the launch less than two months away, a growing number of operators are finalizing their applications and settling fees to ensure they’re ready. Alongside Bet365, BetVictor has also secured its place on the list. It’s anticipated that more will follow suit, especially considering the strong activity seen in Ontario, where 44 operators manage 77 websites. Alberta’s market is clearly drawing attention, and the list of registered platforms is now at 31.

Multiplatform Offerings Set to Debut

In addition to Bet365, several operators are gearing up to offer multiple platforms. Cadtree Limited is leading the pack with five branded platforms. Caesars, a familiar name in the industry, will launch three platforms, including its two standalone online casino apps, Caesars Palace and Horseshoe, plus its integrated sportsbook and online casino. Other notable entries include DraftKings, set to launch with both its own brand and the Golden Nugget brand, while Bally’s will introduce BallyBet and Monopoly Casino. Electraworks and two other U.S. operators are also readying two platforms each.

Hard Rock’s Entry Into Canada

Hard Rock Digital, a renowned U.S. casino brand, has finally made its move into Canada, having secured its first gaming license in Ontario last week. Despite this entry, it’s unlikely Hard Rock will participate in Alberta’s initial launch next month due to the time it historically takes for the brand to expand—Ontario took over four years. Nevertheless, their arrival signals a growing interest from major U.S. players in the Canadian market.

What’s Next for Alberta?

As the clock ticks down to the July 13 launch, attention turns to which new players might still join the mix. The high interest underscores the potential seen by operators, as Alberta positions itself as a competitive force in Canada’s iGaming market. All eyes are now on the upcoming weeks as more registrations might trickle in, finalizing the roster that will signify this major shift in the province’s gambling industry.
