These tactics, consumer representatives claim, violate the protocols established when online gambling was legalized in the Netherlands in 2021.

Holland Casino has reiterated its commitment to responsible gaming practices, noting that it has already made modifications to some of its online services following previous feedback. BetCity’s parent company stated it had not yet been formally approached about the new findings but expressed openness to discussion. Meanwhile, Jacks emphasized its adherence to legal requirements and mentioned that it has not encountered any tangible evidence supporting these claims thus far.

In light of these developments, the broader gambling community in the Netherlands finds itself at a crossroads. Some stakeholders argue that stricter regulations and more rigorous enforcement are necessary to ensure player protection and industry integrity.
