PokerKat is her nickname, Kathy Liebert is her name. Kathy H. Liebert was born on October 1, 1967 in her hometown – Nashville, Tennessee. An inductee into the Poker Hall of Fame, Kathy, in a bid to prove herself as a force in gambling became the first woman ever to claim the most coveted prize of $1,000,000 in a tournament. Kathy is a B. Sc. Holder of Business and Finance from Marist College, Poughkeepsie. She began a career in the corporate world but was dissatisfied with her job with Dun & Brandstreet and hence, quit.

Leibert, an American professional poker player, started her career in this chosen field in Colorado as a prop player. Her enthusiasm for the game enabled her to participate in several tournaments. She stared in the first Party Poker Million event in 2002, thereby winning a $1,000,000 reward. Since then, she became a regular at various events and making a number of final tables. She finished third in the 2005 Borgata Poker Open

Liebert, who currently resides in either Las Vegas or Downey in Nevada and California respectively, has made several final tables in the past including a third place finish at the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold’em World Championship of the World Series of Poker tournament on June 1, 2008. The position earned her a $306,064 reward. Kathy Liebert was also able to make her mark in numerous tournaments like winning a gold bracelet in a $1,500 Limit Texas Hold’em Shootout event of the 2004 World Series of Poker. She didn’t spare the series Poker Royale in her quest to become the world’s best as she the Battle of Sexes tournament.

Kathy Liebert’s elimination from London’s 2005 World Speed Poker Open in September didn’t deter her from providing live commentary on the final with Gary Jones. She has the highest prize money from open field tournaments than every other professional woman player in the history of the game. Kathy Liebert as well as Cyndy Violette and Annie Duke were the only women to successfully finish an open event in the 2004 World Series of Poker tournaments. Her achievements until date include a World Series of Poker bracelet with more than $4,500,000 won in live tournaments.

Kathy Liebert made her name on three different fronts: primarily in the world of poker; as a shareholder in the stock exchange market and lastly, in karate sports. Kathy Liebert claims her competitiveness, reading poker literature and spending several hours playing poker were key to her success in the game of cards.
